Personal Project Progress

After discussions with other students about the variation of the material, I decided to choose Alumunium 1100 with variations of width and size, which are :

Widht = 1 mm
Size = 4 x 6 cm

After searching in e-commerce for the right specification, I found the correct one, and ordered it, but it will arrive on Wednesday, 29 March. And after it is arrive I need to bring that material to some workshop to cut the size into what I desired.

So the progress of my personal project is still waiting for the material to arrive.

7 March Class

There are 4 point that Prof Adi mention, which is :

- Desalination

- Biomassa

- Pyrolisis

- Drier

and then Prof Adi told us the detail about how to desalinate sea water for drinking water. Indonesia as a archipelago country, which has a lot of coast and sea should be have a lot of desalination factory, but in reality it has only have several desalination factory, even if we have an issue about drinking water.

Then Sintha and Kevin ask a question, Kevin ask, how about the mercury that contains in the seawater of Jakarta, how to purify it, and Sintha ask about how the trash that contaminated the seawater effects the desalination.

Graphene and Filter are needed in desalination process, each have an primary objectives of purify the seawater but each have different fucntions.

- Graphene :

Chat GPT : Graphene has unique physical and chemical properties that make it attractive as a membrane material for desalination. Its high surface area allows for efficient transport of water molecules, while its mechanical strength and chemical stability enable it to withstand high pressures and corrosive environments. Graphene can also be modified to enhance its separation performance through functionalization or doping with other elements. Although further research is needed to optimize its performance and reduce production costs for large-scale applications, graphene holds promise as a potential solution for desalination challenges.

- Filter :

Chat GPT : Filters play a crucial role in the desalination process by removing impurities and particles from the feed water before it enters the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane. The function of filters is to protect the RO membrane from fouling or clogging, which can reduce its effectiveness and lifespan. Filters can remove suspended solids, organic matter, and bacteria that can accumulate on the membrane surface and reduce its permeability. Additionally, filters can remove chlorine and other oxidants that can damage the RO membrane. The type and size of filters used depend on the quality of the feed water and the requirements of the RO membrane. Filters can range from simple sand filters to more advanced systems, such as ultrafiltration or multimedia filters. Proper filter maintenance and replacement are essential to ensure optimal performance of the desalination system and prolong the lifespan of the RO membrane.

28 February Class “Pyrolisis”

Whats the different between IC engine and pyrolisis? on IC engine it is burning liquid fuel instead any solid things that pyrolisis are.

When anything burns it is actually vibrates in the mollecular level.

Almost every energy consist of vibration.

Tesla said, if you want to understand nature, understand 3 things, energy, vibrations, and frequencies.

Personal Project: "Fuel Consumption of Hybrid Car"

Topic

Internal Combustion Engine

Synopsis

Hybrid cars are becoming increasingly popular due to their fuel efficiency and lower emissions compared to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. A hybrid car combines an internal combustion engine with an electric motor, which allows it to use less fuel and emit fewer pollutants than a conventional car. This is achieved by using the electric motor to supplement the power generated by the engine, particularly during stop-and-go driving.

One of the key factors that makes hybrid cars more fuel-efficient is their ability to use regenerative braking. This means that when the driver brakes, the kinetic energy generated is captured and converted into electrical energy, which is then stored in the battery. When the car accelerates again, the electric motor uses this stored energy to help power the vehicle, reducing the amount of fuel needed.

The fuel economy of a hybrid car depends on various factors such as the size and weight of the vehicle, driving conditions, and the driver's behavior. Generally, hybrid cars have better fuel economy in city driving, where the electric motor can be used more often, than on the highway, where the engine is doing most of the work. However, newer hybrid models are designed to be more efficient in both city and highway driving.

In recent years, advances in hybrid technology have led to the development of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and fully electric vehicles (EVs), which rely entirely on electricity for propulsion. While these vehicles offer even greater fuel efficiency and lower emissions, they may not be suitable for all drivers due to limited driving range and longer recharging times.

Overall, hybrid cars offer a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective option for drivers who want to reduce their fuel consumption and lower their carbon footprint. As technology continues to evolve, it is likely that hybrid and electric vehicles will become even more commonplace on the roads.

Will We Ever Run Out of Fossil Fuels

Yes, we will eventually run out of oil as it is a finite resource that is being depleted faster than it is being replenished. The rate of oil consumption has been increasing, particularly in developing countries, leading to concerns about the sustainability of our energy consumption patterns and the environmental impact of burning fossil fuels. Although the exact timeline is uncertain, many experts predict that we will reach peak oil production within the next few decades, highlighting the need for alternative sources of energy and energy conservation measures.

Relation Between Sugar Cane Factory, Battery Company, and Oil and Gas Company

ChatGPT: The relation between sugar cane factory, battery company, and oil and gas company is related to the production and utilization of energy. As a mechanical engineering student, it is important to understand the interconnections between different energy sources and how they can be used to meet the growing demand for sustainable and clean energy.
