Project Title : Performance Optimization of Compact Heat Exchanger on Radiator Vehicle Type with 1000 cc Engine Capacity
Abstract:

The radiator is a very important component of a vehicle's engine which is used as a cooling system, especially the radiator on a car engine that functions to cool the cooling water that has absorbed heat from the engine and then the heat will be transferred to the air flowed by the radiator fan. The addition of fins is one approach to increase the cooling rate of the radiator. And this serves to provide a greater heat transfer area and increase the air convection heat transfer coefficient. In short, the effectiveness of an heat exchanger that is a radiator is essential to note, starting from the influence of the flow rate of air flowing perpendicular to the cross-section of the radiator by the overall heat transfer of the airside (cold fluid) and waterside (hot fluid), the effect the airflow rate to the effectiveness of the radiator used on the combustion engine as well as the optimal airflow rate to the temperature drop on the radiator. In this study aims to optimize the performance of the compact heat exchanger on radiator vehicle type with 1000 cc engine capacity. This paper uses a simulation method, which is carried out numerically (engineering computation) to predict the radiator water outlet temperature and the outlet temperature of the air flowing perpendicular to the radiator cross-section.
