The orientation of the shaft and rotational axis which are mounted to the turbine define the type of the turbine.

The outer diameter of the Archimedes Spiral wind turbine is 1500 mm, the thickness is 5mm and the length is 1500mm.

The design fuction are using the selction of aerofil and the shape aerodynamics are selected for the blade performance. The choice is based on the compairing lift and drag over different aerofils. The dimensions are scaled from the NACA 6409 aerofil shape and scaled to AAWT dimension by using MATLAB. The final design is rather complex.

Some studies show, energy generation in urban area are being performed in the United Kingdom. Some of the urban energy generators are using small scaled wind turbine. There are two types of wind turbine one of it is horizontal axis wind turbine. The Archimedes wind turbine itself are adopting the horizontal axis wind turbine as the axis preference. The design formula of the blades itself are came from the law of the angular momentum conservation law and derived using a variety of shaped factors. Futhermore, the aerodynamics and performance characteristic of the blades are examined using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. In general, from literature it says that the Archimedes Wind Turbine produce the power coefficient (Cp) of approximately 0.25, which are higher than other types of urban wind turbine. In order to find the trend and maximal efficiency and output, our research team are using the variables of the blade revolution and the number of blades as the first analysis. Then we we combined it with various types of airfoil, and founded the trend of the variable itself. Futhermore, we calculate the variables manually with some formula inorder to compare the value and combine it with the calculation analysis from the CFD simulation in order to find the best power output and efficiency it can produced.

Archimedes screw are one of the oldest machines being use, a device which used to lifting water for irrigation and drainage purposed. The device however, very helpful for people in that era to take water form downhill and transfer it to uphill in ease. Futhermore, the instrument keep being used in Roman civilitation as Vitruvius gave the detail of Archimedes Screw itself on his book De Architectura on the first century B.C. The design itself begins with a tree trunk shaped into a cyclindrical core whose length is 16 times its diameter.

In this semester on the design assigntment class, writer and his team are assigned to create the turbine based by the Archimedes screw design. Writer and his team are aiming for the maximum output of energy and the best efficiency from the turbine. Futhermore, design itself are being implemented as the turbine blades design.Thus, we are using airfoil as the profile design. In addition, writers and his teams are searching the optimal blades design which are based on the literature reading and interview.

Writer and his team are designing the turbine and turbine system using hand drawing and also the CAD software which is Solidworks. While designing the turbine, writer and his team are encounter several problems which is including technical failure and human error. Futerhmore, in order to solve the problem, writer and his team are watching some youtube tutorials and interviewing some source.
